Season's Greetings

Tom Wanat - Wednesday, December 23, 2009
During this holiday season we wanted to take a moment to say thank you. It's been a big year for us.

We are especially excited to have opened our newest office and retail store in downtown Washington DC at 2010 P St. N.W. by Dupont Circle. Our DC-based technicians are now closer to many of our valued clients. We also:
Created our remote help desk team for prompt service to our managed-services clients

  • Deployed many successful upgrades and migrations to Exchange 2007 and Windows Small Business Server 2008
  • Expanded our Web services department
  • Partnered with RackSpace for server hosting and cloud-based email and storage
  • Partnered with Navisite for local server co-location
In the coming months we'll be rolling out new antivirus and backup options as managed service options. We hope more of you will join our flat-rate InSight managed services in 2010.

A clear advantage to local helpdesk support

Tom Wanat - Tuesday, December 15, 2009
We're supplementing our on-site service visits with our remote helpdesk team. Customers on an InSight managed-service plan get unlimited support from our helpdesk team at no additional hourly cost.

We believe Hilltop's unique advantage is that our helpdesk team is located here -- not just in the Washington area -- but in Hilltop's offices working alongside our IT consultants.

Large IT companies typically outsource their helpdesk team to wherever labor is cheapest. That sometimes has unintended consequences.

Our InSight managed-service plan rates are very competitive. We like our chances.

Computer recycling reminder

Tom Wanat - Thursday, December 10, 2009
Now is the best time of year to purchase new computers for your home and business. Once you replace those old computers, you need to figure out what to do with them. For a nominal fee, the Hilltop Computer Shops can accept drop offs of used computers and other office equipment. In some cases, if there is any value left to the machine, we may be able to pay you for it.

If your computer has no value, we can wipe the hard drives so that nobody can steal your personal data for $20. CRT's can be accepted for recycling for a charge of $20. All computers and equipment are recycled responsibly.
